Problem configuring static IP via ethernet
« il: Luglio 23, 2018, 08:34:01 am »
Hello,

I have the graphical Network Manager and when the laptop is connected to the network it recognizes both of these interfaces (it says 'ifupdown(<name>)'). When I chose the interface for the static configuration it tries to connect and then different things happen. Sometimes the whole system hangs and the only thing to do is to power it off. Sometimes it says it established a connection but nothing works: Iceweasel can't load web pages and pidgin doesn't connect to its server. But the strangest thing is that twice it worked -- I could use the Internet, but only through this single session -- next time I logged in it didn't work again. When I use wireless networks there are no problems so I assume that NM isn't faulty. It could be a problem of cooperation between NM and ifupdown but then why did it work twice?

Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
